Eligibility Criteria
However, eligibility criteria mean the minimum requirement which is required to appear in the recruitment process. So, the basic eligibility criteria to appear for the process are Educational qualification, Age limit, Nationality, Marital status, Physical eligibility, Medical eligibility.
Educational Qualification
For joining the Indian Army Tradesman candidates educational criteria are as follows:

Age Criteria
However, for joining the Indian Army Tradesman, candidates should be between 17½ years to 23 years. But please make sure that you match your D.O.B which is mentioned in the documents only.
Marital Status
The candidates must be unmarried.
Nationality
However, the candidate must have identity proof given by the Government of India who has the following nationality.
- Indian citizen
- If refugee from Tibetan
- If the candidate is of Indian origin and migrated from Pakistan/Burma/Sri Lanka/Kenya/Uganda/United Republic of Tanzania/ Zambia/ Malawi Zaire / Ethiopia/Vietnam.
- The subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
Physical Criteria
Although, physical fitness is of the utmost importance to be a part of the Indian army as we are the protector of our nation. So, there are certain criteria which are needed to be fulfilled. Selection Process
Indian Army conducts Open Rally and recruitment drives to fill Soldier Tradesman. If you want to take part in the recruitment process, the first step is to register for Open Rally.
Online registration
Firstly, to appear in the drive of Bharti Rally Recruitment after checking the eligibility criteria. The first and foremost thing is to fill the online registration form on the official website of the Bharti Rally i.e., www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, and register yourself.
Once the Rally starts and you reach the venue. Afterward, your important documents will be verified. After verification, the following tests will be conducted:
- PFT (Physical Fitness Test)
- Medical Test
- CEE (Common Entrance Exam)

Physical Fitness Test
The physical fitness phase consists of 4 rounds:
- 1.6 Km run
- Pull-ups
- Zig-Zag balance
- 9 Feet ditch
(1) 1.6 Km Running Test
Running test requires lots of practice as many candidates run together and only a few get selected. I will recommend you all to start practicing running by using a timer. As fast as you will finish the run accordingly you will get the marks. Below is the table of the mark’s distribution.

(2) Pull-ups
Don’t worry if you are not able to score much in the running you have the chance to earn marks in the pull-ups. Below are the details of the number of pull-ups and marks. After pull-ups you have to give the chest measurement and the chest should be fully developed and the chest should be at least a 5cm increase in the chest after expansion.

(3) 9 feet ditch
This test is to check the courage of the employee and again this round is only a qualifying round. The candidate has to cross 9 feet jump.
(4) Zig-Zag Balance
This round is to check the balance of the body. The candidate has to clear the round without failing. A candidate might get 3 attempts to clear the round but we recommend you to clear in the 1st attempt.
If you will clear all the above rounds then you will proceed to the next round i.e., medical test.
Medical Test
The medical test is the backbone of the Indian Army because a soldier must be fit and fine then only he will be able to serve our nation wholeheartedly. There are certain conditions that needed to be fulfilled by the body of the candidate which is as follows.
Firstly, we have discussed the physical measurement eligibility if you have fulfilled those criteria then you have to make sure that you are medically fit. So, let us discuss some major medical eligibility criteria.
- The candidate should have the 6/6 vision
- The candidate should have a minimum of 14 dental teeth.
- There should not be any disease related to the heart, lungs, kidney, etc.
- The candidate must not possess any hearing aid.
- The candidate’s chest should be well developed having a minimum of 5 Cms expansion.
- Also, color vision should be CP-III. Should recognize red and green colors.
- The candidate should be free from any injuries internally and externally
- If there is any operation that took place in the past, make sure that does not create any trouble for you in the future, and please keep the original documents at the time of the medical test to avoid any trouble.

Note: I humbly request you to read the medical eligibility criteria mentioned above. And please before going to the rally consult a doctor for the full body checkup because many candidates get rejected in the medical round as well.
So, if you get selected after clearing the physical fitness test and medical test then congratulation you have won the half battle. You are in phase 2 of the selection procedure i.e, Written test.
Issue of admit card
All the candidates who are found medically fit will be given separate admit cards for the CEE. In other words, they qualify for the written exams. Although, admit card has all the details about the Date, Time, & Place of the written exam with instructions.

Written Test
Written test plays a very important role and the marks of the written test are also added in the combined merit list. Don’t worry we will discuss the weightage in the detail. Let us discuss the written test first.
Objective-type question paper meaning you have to tick the correct option out of 4 options.
- Total marks = 100 marks
- Each question of 2 marks.
- Time duration: 1 hour/ 60 minutes.
- The total number of questions is 50.
- Passing marks is 32 marks out of 100.

The Merit list is made on the basis of PFT (PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST) + WRITTEN EXAM. It clearly shows that you have to achieve good marks in both tests to get selected. Also, if your name is on the final list then congratulations, you’re selected in the recruitment process.
Training
To become fully-fledged army personnel, you have to go through very rigorous training. The time duration of the training is 9 months.
Starting 6 months of the training is just like the other candidates which will be regular and then there is a break of 30 months ad post break for 3 months you will be provided with training of your field/ job/ particular trade.
Documents
Some important documents which will be needed in the Bharti ground are as follows:
- Certificate of class 10th and mark sheet as well. Those who are applying for housekeeper and mess keeper are required to bring a class 8th mark sheet with the signature and stamp of the principal.
- Domicile or Resident certificate with photograph issued by tehsildar/state government/SDM.
- Religion and state card certificate with a photograph if any.
- Character certificate issued by the school and as well from police/ panchayat/municipal with photograph and it should not be more than 6 months.
- Aadhar card and 20 recent colored photographs.
